The First State Bank is dedicated to giving back to the communities we serve. Whether we’re offering financial support or encouraging our employees to volunteer through our Employee Volunteer Program, it’s important that we help make our communities the best they can be and to give back to those who have helped us become the great bank we are today. Here are just a few of the amazing organizations we support.

Positive Tomorrows

Positive Tomorrows is Oklahoma’s only private, tuition-free elementary school serving the needs of homeless kids and their families. The First State Bank has been a proud supporter of this unique school for many years. Not only are we the Presenting Sponsor of their annual fundraising art auction event, Cork & Canvas, our employees also dedicate their time volunteering at the school.

Our Employee Volunteer Program encourages employees to take time away from their work day to provide birthday parties for the amazing kids who attend the school. We provide gifts for each child from their wish list, a special birthday cake, decorations in a theme they choose, and goodie bags for all the kids in their class!

500ForGood Award

The First State Bank was the recipient of the 2018 500ForGood Award presented by the Federal Home Loan Bank Topeka (FHLB). The FHLB reached out to its member banks and asked us what we would do to better our community if we were given $500 to do so.

We immediately thought of how we could use that money to help the kids at Positive Tomorrows. So we wrote to the FHLB and told them that the school needs sponsors to help provide cubby space at their new school, which is currently under construction and scheduled to open for its first school year in Fall 2019.

We told them that, for these kids who don’t have a permanent place to call home, to have a space in which to store their belongings while at school is vitally important to helping them feel safe and secure. The FHLB chose us to be the recipient of the 500ForGood award — and some of our employee volunteers went to the school to present the school’s President and Principal, Susan Agel, and some of the kids the check for $500!

Wings Special Needs Community

Wings is a community dedicated to enhancing the lives of adults with developmental disabilities by providing job training, post-high school educational opportunities, and life skills to their residents. The First State Bank is proud to partner with this valuable organization by sponsoring their annual fundraising event, Bubbles and Bids. We have been the past Presenting Sponsor of the event and we also encourage our employees to volunteer their time at the facility through our Employee Volunteer Program.

A Chance to Change

A Chance to Change helps families who are suffering from addiction, mental illness, depression, anxiety, or everyday stress and grief. We at The First State Bank believe strongly in their mission and are proud to support their cause. Through financial contributions and having employees serve on their Board, we strive to help A Chance to Change make a great positive impact on their client’s lives.
